Back From Vacation (Not Really)

It’s been quiet on the website for the last few weeks and that’s a problem. I think I’m finally ready to push forward again, but I’ll explain what has been happening.

Over the last few months, I’ve been working on a new online training course that was supposed to be six to eight seat hours. However, when I received the storyboards, I knew immediately that the course would be much longer than that. After several heated discussions with the designers, I pushed forward into development. And that’s where the problems started. I was missing images, content, key information, basically, everything needed to get the course completed. And I was right, the course was huge. And then my company let go several of the designers that worked on the courses so we no longer had access to the information they used to build it. It was a disaster and it fell on me to get it fixed.

I worked over Thanksgiving. I worked over Christmas. I worked over New Years Day. I basically had no vacation because this course took over my life. I would wake up at 7 a.m. and go to work. I would finish at 5 p.m., eat dinner, and then go back to work. Most nights I didn’t finish until 10 p.m. or later. It was not a happy time and I seriously considered resigning several times. But I didn’t and I finished it. That eight hour course is actually around twenty-five hours.

My free time was next to nil and I usually just wanted to zone out and not think when I had a moment to breathe. Writing does not come easy for me and I struggle to write every page. That course killed the creative spark in me, but no I’m done with it and I can return to writing.

This week’s chapter will be online on Thursday and then we’ll be back on schedule starting next Tuesday. I want to thank everyone that has stuck around for each new chapter and hopefully, I’ll have much less drama this year.

Wow, that sounds really rough, but glad you got through it. You might want to consider looking for a new job though, as you really shouldn’t stick with a place that makes you miserable (if you can help it that is).

I’ve thought about it but there are perks with this job too. This project was difficult with the increased workload that no one bothered to figure out until it reached me. Thanks for the words.

Thanks. I’m glad you are enjoying the Enhanced. Drew Hayes asked me about publishing a few weeks ago. I told him that I write for fun and to become a better writer. I’ll never have a career as an author, but I have stories that I want to explore. I’m very thankful that I have any readers at all and that I have the support of talented authors like Drew and the rest of the PCS gang. As of right now, I don’t plan to release a paid book but one day, I will edit and release a complete PDF and/or EPUB for Portal, Paradox, and the third book.
